Among the library's closed reference collection are local rarities such as "The Plankinton Memorial Book," a turn-of-the-century version of an illuminated manuscript commissioned of Milwaukee artist and china painter Susan Frackelton by Elizabeth Plankinton in honor of her late father, Milwaukee tycoon John Plankinton.
