The Research Library of the Milwaukee County Historical Society has a wide
variety of information about the history of the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee
County. All materials are for reference use in the library only and may not
be checked out.
Wisconsin Historical Society
The Wisconsin Historical Society is both a state agency and a private membership
organization. The WHS has: Cemetery, Census, Church, Family Histories, Images,
Immigration, Local Histories, Maps, Military, Naturalization, Newspapers,
and Vital Records.

America's Black Holocaust
Museum
America’s Black Holocaust Museum, Inc., a non-profit museum and
founded in 1988, is devoted to preserving the history of lynching in
the United States and the struggle of Black people for equality. Recently,
the Black Holocaust Museum featured artifacts recovered from the wreck
of the Henrietta Marie, a slave ship that sank off the Florida coast
in 1700.
Wisconsin Black Historical Society / Museum
The Wisconsin Black Historical Society / Museum's mission is to
document and preserve the historical heritage of African descent in Wisconsin.
The museum exhibits, collects and disseminates materials depicting this
heritage. Serving as a resource center for all people interested in Wisconsin's
rich African American heritage, the Museum's purpose is to promote community
