Cormoran Strike...strikes again.

By MPL Staff on Dec 1, 2015 11:07 AM

It’s no longer a secret that J.K Rowling of Harry Potter fame writes mystery stories featuring detective Cormoran Strike under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.  Besides being written by the same author, any similarities between the Potter books and the Cormoran Strike series are non-existent.

Career of Evil is a bloody, violent tale of the past catching up with the present.  The mystery begins when a severed leg arrives in the mail.  The package also contains a reference to lyrics from an obscure Blue Oyster Cult song titled “Mistress of the Salmon Salt.”  Those same lyrics were also tattooed on Cormoran’s rock groupie mother.   Hmmm, this is going to get personal!

Galbraith writes with precision and scope and the twisted plot will keep readers involved until the climax.  The novel is named after a Blue Oyster Cult (BOC) song and each chapter begins with a quote of a BOC lyric.  BOC also plays a key role in the plot so fans of the band will want to give this a read.

Career of Evil is the third, and I think, the best in the Cormoran Strike series.  Give them all a try!
