Focus on Finance - Let's Talk Investing at Central Library
Let's Talk Investing
You may have heard about the large shift to defined contribution plans. This places the responsibility of retirement on workers, not companies, making financial planning a new must have. As reported by the Government Accountability Office 29% of older Americans have no savings or plan for retirement.
And, a recent Federal Reserve report found that 13 million adults do not have a bank account and almost 20% of Americans are still considered underbanked, lacking access to financial services. It also stated four out of ten people could not afford a $400 unexpected expense, like an emergency car repair. For retirement, less than 40% think their retirement plan is on track.
As the year comes to an end, focus on financial success for your future. Spend time reviewing your financial goals and retirement plan. You can visit the Social Security website for their planning calculators to help determine your future payments.
Additionally, the library will host a presentation of Let’s Talk Investing at Central Library on Thursday, December 5th from noon to 1:30 pm. You can also visit our Personal Finance page for more tools to help reach your financial success.
