Is Luckiest Girl Alive THE book of the summer?

By MPL Staff on May 22, 2015 6:58 PM

Memorial Day weekend signals the kick-off of summer and, the guessing begins; what will be THE book of the summer? You know, the book all of your friends are reading, or at least have on their TBR (to be read) list/pile.

Based on the number of holds here in Milwaukee County, Luckiest Girl Alive by debut author Jessica Knoll is making a strong case for being the IT book of summer 2015. It follows a young woman striving to create the perfect life - husband, home, career - until a violent incident from her past threatens to unravel everything and expose her most shocking secret of all.

And don't even worry about that holds list because we've got Lucky Day copies on the way! What's a Lucky Day copy? We know that series books by popular authors, New York Times bestsellers, and rumored 'it' books generate large queues of hold requests. So we designate a number of these titles in high-demand as “Lucky Day” items. In other words, readers can’t place a hold on a select number of the copies available. Instead, customers who come into the library may find these gems on the shelf - ready for checkout - just because they came to the library in person that day.
