Artist Ray Chi Begins Public Art Installation

By Beth G on Sep 19, 2014 2:47 PM

On Friday September 19th, local Milwaukee artist Ray Chi began installing a large metal sculpture that will make up one part of his exterior piece for the new East Branch Library.

East Staff member Harper Robison caught the action on camera as a large crane placed the serpentine piece in its home near the future entrance of the new library.

Additional elements of the art piece will be installed as construction continues.

The public art project for the East Branch is funded in part by grants received from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation's Mary L. Nohl Fund, Marvin W. Haesle Fund for the Arts and the Jean Hutchinson Fund, the Milwaukee Arts Board and from the sale of the former East Library Eames furnishings. The library has budgeted $25,000 for the external art work.
