Her: A Memoir by Christa Parravani

By MPL Staff on Aug 5, 2014 11:41 AM

Imagine looking at yourself in the mirror and seeing a ghost. Picture yourself in a coffin, and being numb, but still alive.  nvision losing the person that you have shared your entire life with from conception. Sadly, for Christa Parravani, this becomes a heart-rending reality after her identical twin sister tragically passes away.

Her: A Memoir traces Parravani’s intimate story of grief and confusion while piecing together the traumatic details of her sister Cara’s life. From birth, the sisters were inseparable, but life took an unexpected turn after Cara was brutally attacked and raped; her downward spiral of depression and drug abuse subsequently leading to her premature death. How does Parravani survive after losing half of herself?

Writing becomes a remedy for Parravani, and while at times she feels like she is living half a life, Cara’s story lives through her. Her is an absorbing and intense narrative of what it is like to be a twin; how it feels to lose your second-self; and what it takes to move forward; check it out today!
