Digital Television Transition
Will I have to buy a new TV? The FCC has general information, and frequently asked questions about the upcoming transition to digital broadcasting. In fact, Congress has created the TV Converter Box Coupon Program for households wishing to keep using their analog TV sets after February 17, 2009. The Program allows U.S. households to obtain up to two coupons, each worth $40, that can be applied toward the cost of eligible converter boxes. A not-for-profit organization that works directly with prospective homebuyers in Milwaukee. They provide free advice, information, and resources for a successful home purchase, espcially for disadvantaged buyers. Services are partially funded by Federal housing appropriations.
Healthy Toys.org
HealthyToys.org includes test results for over 1,200 toys and children's products. Each toy is given a rating for five elements that represent the presence of chemicals of concern. Those elements are lead, mercury, cadmium, chlorine and arsenic. Products were assigned a low, medium or high level to indicate the relative level of a chemical in a product. These levels are not meant to correspond to levels known to cause health effects.
