John
James Audubon's "Birds
of America" set of prints published from 1826 to 1838 is the library's
most valuable rarity. Though several may be on display several times throughout
the year, the majority of the 435 prints are housed in a temperature and
humidity controlled case. The library also owns Audubon's "The Viviparous
Quadrupeds of North America" prints from 1842-1854.
