Databases most frequently referenced by local businesses.
These library subscription databases are available for use within City of Milwaukee libraries and by remote access to City of Milwaukee library cardholders.

Associations Unlimited
Contains information for approximately 460,000 international and U.S. national, regional, state, and local nonprofit membership organizations in all fields, including IRS data on U.S. 501(c) nonprofit organizations.

Business and Company Resource Center
A fully integrated resource bringing together company profiles, brand information, rankings, investment reports, company histories, chronologies and periodicals. Covers 1980 to the present year.


Business Source Elite
This business database from EBSCO provides full text for 1,100 scholarly business journals, including full text for nearly 500 peer-reviewed business publications. The titles in Business Source Elite provide information dating back to 1985. Provided as part of Wisconsin's BadgerLink program.

Conference Board
A searchable collection of full-text, in-depth reports on the latest issues in business management and U.S. and global economics topics including studies of Fortune 500 companies on business trends, leadership decisions, performance excellence, corporate governance, human resources, productivity, customer relationship management and more.

Corporate ResourceNet on EBSCOhost
This business database provides over 4,000 searchable sources covering a broad spectrum of U.S. and international business topics and industries; scientific and medical information; regulation and policy information; and company and product information. Provided as part of Wisconsin's BadgerLink program.

D&B Million Dollar Database Premier
Database of over 1,390,000 U.S. leading public and private businesses which have $1 million or more in sales, 20 or more employees, or branches with 50 or more employees. Company information includes industry information with up to 24 individual 8-digit SICs, size criteria (employees and annual sales), type of ownership, principal executives and biographies.

Gale's Ready Reference Shelf
Contains more than a quarter million entries from fourteen reference directories to lists of organizations (international, national, state, local, religious, governmental, research centers, libraries, etc.), publication titles (newspapers, magazines, newsletters, etc.), publisher or officer names, street addresses, contact phone numbers, television or radio station contacts or information about a databases (OVID, infoUSA etc.).

General BusinessFile ASAP
Over 23 million articles dating back to 1980 on: finance, acquisitions and mergers, international trade, money management, new technologies and products, local and regional business trends, investments and banking.

Kompass

Morningstar.com
Investors who depended on Morningstar Mutual Fund publications for unbiased analyses have a new resource, Morningstar.com. This easy to use site offers in-depth analysis of stocks, mutual funds, and exchange traded funds (ETFs). Most reports, excluding the interactive graphs, may be printed. Analysts' research, key ratios, SEC filings, financial statements, dividend and returns info, market segment comparisons, and company snapshots are all available.

NetAdvantage
Standard and Poor's NetAdvantage puts the power of many familiar S & P publications to work for you! Included are the Industry Surveys, Stock Reports, Mutual Fund Reports, Bond Reports, Corporation Records, The Outlook, and the familiar Register of Corporations, Directors and Executives. News items and market snapshots are also found on NetAdvantage. To fully explore the site, take the guided tour in the lower right hand corner of the page. Information may be printed as an html or pdf page or exported to a spreadsheet. Archival data for many of the publications can also be found on the site.

netLibrary
Through the netLibrary Web site, MPLoffers non-fiction electronic books which can be "checked out" and read on a computer with Internet access and a browser. The netLibrary collection includes over 8,000 electronic books. Accounts must be created in a library.

ProQuest Direct Newsstand
Access to all business, daily, ethnic, national, and Wisconsin newspapers available from ProQuest.

ReferenceUSA
Detailed information on nearly 12 million U.S. businesses and 102 million U.S. residents. For residential listings, name, address, phone and general demographic information on neighborhoods are provided. For business listings, basic company information such as address, phone numbers, size, and executive names, is listed.
