Advocates for libraries, literacy, and lifelong learning.

The Friends of the Milwaukee Public Library is a separate 501(c)3 organization with its own board of directors. The Friends group was established in 1995 by combining two volunteer groups, the Literary Society and the Bookfellows. This group raises money for the library and foundation by:

  • Operating the Bookseller, a used book store located in Central Library.
  • Organizing special used book sales held at neighborhood libraries.
  • Hosting events for Friends members and the community.
  • Encouraging everyone to become a member of the Friends.
  • Accepting donations of used materials that meet library guidelines.
  • Love the Library?
Show your support for the Friends of MPL with a purchase of a hat, shirt, coffee mug or other items available for sale through CafePress!
For each purchase you make, a percentage will go to the Friends of MPL.
