Fun Activities

Fire-free Campfires

Picture of a campfireTo make a pretend campfire, take brown construction paper and roll it the long way into paper logs and tape them in place. You could also use paper rolls from paper towels or toilet paper rolls- just paint them brown. Make a bunch of logs. Next take a large number of rocks or stones and make a circle on the ground to create a fire pit for your campfire. Put the logs inside the circle. Use red and orange construction paper and cut out flames for your campfire and either tape them to some of the logs or place them on top.

Songs & Nursery Rhymes

tent with camping gearI'm Going Camping
(Tune of: I'm a Little Teapot)

I am going camping (point to self)
Time to pack (look at watch)
My tent, my bedroll,
(make tent with hands, then fold hands to cheek)
And a snack. (pretend to eat)

I'll sit by the campfire
(warm hands over fire)
Its glow so bright. (wiggle fingers for fire)
Then snooze in my tent
(pretend to snore)
'Til the morning light!
(open eyes wide, forming sun over head)

and you shake it all about.marshmallow cartoon face
You do the camping pokey and you turn yourself about.
That's what it's all about!

(Repeat with hot dog, pizza roll and corn on the cob.)
