Online
story times are designed to introduce your child to language, literature
and the library. By exposing your toddler to a wide variety of
the best books available and making reading an everyday part of
life, you will lay the foundations for a lifelong love of reading.

Growth Chart
You will need: a strip of paper, 4-6 feet long by 6 inches wide; ruler;
permanent marker; glue; photo of child as infant; clear contact paper
What to do: Along the left
side of the paper strip, and starting at the bottom, mark inches
and feet the length of the paper. Make a large
mark at your child’s birth length and write the date. Next to
it glue a photo of your child as an infant. Continue up the chart marking
growth at various stages and attach a picture taken at that age.
Laminate or cover it with clear contact paper on both sides. Mount
it on a wall in your child’s room where they can study their
growth rate. Continue to mark growth at milestones, documenting with
dates, ages and photos. Cover additions with clear tape to preserve
them and to create a keepsake.
Learning Time
Introduce
your children to a ruler or cloth measuring tape and show them how
to ‘measure’ two
objects to see which is larger. Point out the numbers on the ruler
to reinforce the concept of counting.

| Healthy Habits
Be sure to eat nutritious foods
To keep your body strong. (Pretend to eat)
Too much candy, junk and pop
Can do your body wrong.
Be sure to get a lot of sleep
Each and every night. (Rest cheek on hands)
You’ll feel good in the morning
When your nighttime’s right.
Be sure to wash both your hands
And use a lot of soap.
(Pretend to wash hands)
Don’t give cold and flu germs
Any kind of hope.
I Can!
I can! I can! I can! (clap hands)
Roll a ball. (rolling motion)
I can! I can! I can!
Roll a ball.
I can! I can! I can!
Roll a ball.
Come roll a ball with me.
Repeat with: Throw
a ball;
Bounce a ball;
Jump up high;
Turn around;
Run so fast;
Tippy toe |
Reach for the Ceiling
Reach for the ceiling (Do actions as indicated)
Touch the floor.
Stand up again,
Let’s do some more.
Nod your head,
Bend your knee.
Shrug your shoulders
Like this, you see?
Reach for the ceiling
Touch the floor.
That’s all now,
There isn’t any more.
Stop, Look, and Listen
Stop! (hands in front, palms out)
Look! (hands shield eyes)
And Listen! (hands cup ears)
Before you cross the street, (look both ways)
Use your eyes, (point to eyes)
Use your ears, (point to ears)
And then use your feet. (point to feet and nod head) |
