Everyone
likes to know they are loved. Tell your children often that you care.
Especially when disciplining them or dealing with stressful situations,
help them understand that you can dislike something they’ve
done while continuing to love them. Touching is an important way
to show children that they are loved. Make sure your toddlers get
lots of hugs, kisses, and tender touches every day.
Craft
Project—Ribbon Bookmark
You will need: a photograph (that can be cut), scissors,
a 6 inch piece of ribbon or colored paper, glue and a felt tipped
marking pen
Directions: Cut the photograph into the shape
of a heart with the person’s face in the center of the heart.
Glue the heart-photo to one end of the ribbon or colored paper and
let it dry thoroughly.
With a marking pen, write a special message on the bookmark like “I
Love You,” “Best Grandma,” “Big Brother,” or
the name of the person in the picture or the one receiving the bookmark. |
| I Have a Little Heart
I have a little heart
(hand over heart)
And it goes thump, thump, thump
(pat chest with fingers)
It keeps right on beating
When I jump, jump, jump.
(jump in place)
I get a special feeling
(hug shoulders)
When I look at you.
(point to children)
It makes me want to give you
(shrug shoulders shyly)
A kiss or two!
(blow kisses)
Skinna-Marinky
Skinna-marinky dinky dink,
skinna-marinky doo.
I love you!
Skinna-marinky dinky dink,
Skinna-marinky doo.
I love you in the morning
When the sun is big and red.
I love you in the evening
When the moon is overhead.
Skinna-marinky dinky dink,
Skinna-marinky doo.
I love you! |
Make a Valentine
Snip, snip, snip the paper.
(make cutting motion)
Paste, paste, paste the paper.
(brush fingers against palm)
Press, press, press the paper.
(press palms together)
To make a valentine for you!
(make ‘giving’ motion)
Red Valentine
(tune of Three Blind Mice)
Red Valentine, red valentine
Hold it high, up to the sky
Now put it down upon your shoe
Then on your head and your knee, too
Listen to me and do what I do
With red valentines, red valentines.
Funny Valentine
Would
you like a square valentine
Or would a round one do?
How about a diamond
Or a triangle or two?
Although
I try very hard
When I cut a
heart, I find
It always ends up lopsided
And makes a funny valentine.
