Milwaukee Public Library Guide
for
Using EBSCOhost Español
|
Despite its name, EBSCOhost Español can also
be used to machine-translate EBSCOhost articles into French and German,
as well as Spanish. This process is not intuitive.
Click on EBSCOhost Español. All the databases received by Milwaukee
Public Library will come up, with their titles in English and their descriptions
in Spanish.
|

|
| After selecting the databases to
search, click on “Continuar” button
to bring up a search screen. |
|
| Type in the search query in English.
For example, “small
business," and click on "Buscar." |
|
| Click on "Texto completo en HTML"
for the article of interest. NOTE: In order to get a Spanish translation
of the article, you must choose one that has this option. Some articles
are not available in Spanish - such as the "What it takes to launch
your own business" article listed below this choice. |
|
| Neither the article nor the summary
is in Spanish yet. Click on the box that says “Idioma.” Select
ingles/español and click on “Traducir.” |
|
| This will create a machine-translated Spanish
version of the original English language article. |
|
| This process must be done for each
article, one at a time. A Spanish language search will not bring up any
articles (for example, “tiger” vs. “tigre” -
unless by some chance the word appears in the English-language article),
as the
search is based on the language of the original article. The article will
print in the translated language but cannot be e-mailed in the foreign
language format. |
