Local History Manuscripts Collection
List of Holdings
This list provides an overview of the materials in the Local History Manuscripts Collection at the Milwaukee Public Library. The Local History Manuscripts Collection contains manuscripts, diaries, correspondence and other primary source material that focus on the City of Milwaukee. It is a part of the Central Library’s Humanities and Archives Department. These holdings are in differing stages of organization and preparation, hence accessibility varies.
More detailed finding aids for some of the collections listed here may be consulted in paper form in the Frank P. Zeidler Humanities Room at the Central Library. Please consult the “Finding Aid” column of the list to determine if a finding aid is available for a specific collection. Existing finding aids will eventually be published online at the Special Collections Finder, one of MPL’s Digital Collections.
