Volunteer at the Library

Be a voice for teens at the library! Join a group of Milwaukee teens who help create programs for teens and provide input on teen events and materials at the Milwaukee Public Library. (For students in Grades 8-12.) |
- Attend a monthly 3 hour gathering to talk with other teens, meet interesting people, and assist the library with developing events and programs for teens. Gatherings are also the place to give input on materials and services the library should provide for teens.
- Offer suggestions and ideas in person, via email, or over the phone
- Develop and implement library outreach to teens
- Support library efforts to connect with teens
Optional (yet encouraged) responsibilities:
- Volunteer at a specific Milwaukee Public Library
- Assist in developing system wide program

- 13-18 years old. (Parental permission required if under age 18)
- Consent portion of Volunteer Application signed by parent or guardian before starting the assignment.
- G.P.A. of 2.5 or higher
- Good school attendance
- Enthusiasm for reading, technology, teen events, and libraries.
- Commit for one school year of service.

- Yearly membership. Applications accepted May through July
- TAB meetings are generally on Saturdays and rotate among the Milwaukee Public Libraries
- Volunteering hours at branch libraries can be determined by student and librarian
