Tips for a great “bookface” photo:
- Use a book you got at the library!
- Ask your librarian for book suggestions.
- Take the photo against a solid background, like a plain wall.
- Patterns and colors are fine, but no clothing with logos or brand names.
- Photos with 300 dpi resolution or higher are preferred.
If you’re not sure what dpi resolution your camera or phone has, don’t let it stop you from entering the contest! The library will work with winners to make sure your photo looks great. |
Contest Rules: Photos can be submitted between March 1, 2013 and March 28, 2013.
Milwaukee County residents ages 13-18 at the time of the contest are eligible. Children of MPL staff members are not eligible. Each person can submit a maximum of two photos. If a person submits more, only the first two photos received will be considered. Along with the photo, teens need to submit their name, age, e-mail address and phone number so we can contact you if you’re a winner. Up to four (4) teens will be selected. Milwaukee Public Library staff will select winners, and judges’ decisions are final. Winners will be contacted the week of April 1. Winners under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a model release form granting permission to use the photo. Photo may be used in any or all of the following ways: print campaign (posters, fliers, bookmarks, calendars, etc.), web/social media outlets (MPL webpage, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and other outlets as determined by the Milwaukee Public Library.
