The Basics of Personal Finance - Monday, April 29, 6-7:30 pm

Personal finance ranges from managing daily expenses to investing for retirement. Practicing  the basics of smart money management is all it takes for most people to reach their goals. This workshop is designed to help set those goals and reach them through building a solid financial foundation.

The Mystery of Credit (Reports) - Monday, May 6, 6-7 pm

Credit, credit scores, and the rights and responsibilities that accompany them are a concern to many consumers. This seminar provides an overview of credit bureaus, credit scoring as well as specific guidance on disputing inaccuracies, improving the credit score, and dealing with identity theft and fraud.

How Identity Theft Affects Us - Wednesday, May 15, 6-7 pm

Identity theft has become so prevalent that chances are either you or someone you know has been a victim. It is not uncommon for these situations to take hundreds of hours and dollars to resolve. In this workshop, you will learn:
• The most common ways people can obtain your financial and identity data
• How to protect yourself against becoming a victim of fraud
• Additional resources for further learning

A budget is the most powerful personal finance tool. After identifying short, mid, and long-term goals, participants learn how to design realistic spending and savings plans. Within that framework, we discuss different options available for getting out of debt, staying out of debt, and maintaining motivation.

Learn how to plan for the purchase of a home. A financial literacy outreach specialist will guide you through the process and provide answers to all your home buying questions.

The Psychology of Spending - Wednesday, June 5, 6-7 pm
Bay View Branch, 2566 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.

Each person has unique attitudes about spending and saving. By recognizing the tendencies that have shaped past decisions, participants will be able to make the necessary adjustments to change unproductive financial habits into positive ones.
