Historic Recipe File

For over 20 years, from the 1960s until the 1980s, Milwaukee Public Library librarians clipped hundreds of recipes from the Milwaukee Journal and Milwaukee Sentinel. They were used at Ready Reference to answer telephone questions before recipes were available online.

The Historic Recipe File digital collection is comprised of the clipped recipes. Many favorite foods appear in this collection providing a fascinating glimpse into the local and ethnic foods that were popular in Milwaukee's past.
