A collection of various vessel / ship plans, maps and other miscellaneous marine related drawings created, arranged and added to by Milwaukee Public Library staff and Wisconsin Marine Historical Society volunteers. The collection is made up of blueprints and line drawings of ships as well as a small number of maps and component drawings. These contain inboard and outboard profiles, deck plans, and sections, and general arrangements of ships. Many of the drawings are copies and dates listed in the index are of the drawing, not of the reproduction.

The index lists plans according to the accession number they received as they were added to the collection and provides the name of the vessel, its ship number (if available), the type of ship, a very brief description, the company, and the date of the plans.

Great Lakes Marine Collections are viewed by appointment only the Frank P. Zeidler Room of the Central Library. All materials are requested and appointments are scheduled here. Same day access cannot be guaranteed. All research questions should be addressed via e-mail to mplarchives@milwaukee.gov  and will be answered in the order received.
